Melissa is in many cases described as the polar opposites of her siblings. Due to her not being very power-hungry and hopes that one day she won't have to become a werewolf. Making Melissa in many cases a girl who tends to worry a lot about things that are out of her control, but tends to hide that from her father. Although she is very brave, and is often envied by her siblings for being the one who is the most brave. Being in second place for having the smarts which are all displayed by her younger brother Bryson.

Despite not being the most intelligent person, Melissa is always up for a challenge. Tending to take harder tasks and try her best to make sure she can show others she can handle anything. Making her someone who tends to take pride which is often displayed by most of her family members as she loves to boast about her achievements. Leaving her to be in many cases kind of stubborn and does not let go off things as easily as she technically should let go of things.

Melissa for the most part cares deeply about her family members, not so much her father. Even though she is thankful for him not making her kill someone to let her release the gene. She tends to be loyal to whoever she feels like she could trust as she can be often described as someone who does not trust easily, only really trusting those of her friend group. History:
Melissa had been born as fourth child and first daughter of Keynan and Bridget Cavanaugh in Mystic Falls. And from day one had been the favorite of her mother's due to having been the first girl. Which in many cases had displeased her father, and had caused Melissa to not have the best relationship with him due to him not liking her. Praising her older brothers and twin much better than he did. Leaving Melissa to often not be fond of her father and holding a grudge to him which still stands currently.

As years went on Melissa had formed a very close bond with their mother who had loved Melissa with everything she could. Admiring that for a change she had a daughter that she would end up loving. Melissa had been the one of her siblings who was the easiest to get along with, and had loved to meet new people. And trying her best to stray away from what her family had been and when she got older Melissa had become to enjoy the idea of being the only untriggered werewolf in the family.

When she became a teenager, Melissa had attended Mystic Falls High School, where she had succeeded just like her brothers, but had been one to kind of distance herself from her family. Due to her family having some sort of influence in the town which could in many cases annoy people, but is known to kind of be the family rebel as she had learned to not like the idea of her family or her father's ethics.

Leading to their relationship with each other not being at all the greatest as she would one day love to see the demise of her father.

Family Background:
The Cavanaugh family comes from a long of werewolves, dating back to the days of the most ancient wolves. And has been known to have been in the Mystic Falls area since the beginning of time, but some members had managed to move to other parts of the United States. They are a family based off keeping their blood pure and teaching their children from a young age to be triggered werewolf, even though numerous have managed to remain untriggered.

For years they have been in fights to be alphas, and has succeeded only a couple of times. But in recent years they had became an dominant family. And have been trying anything in their power to make sure, by having their first born sons take over the spot through a fight when their time has come to an end. The Cavanaugh's are a not very liked family due to their very not so nice history.

Even though some of the members try their best to clear their name, and some could really care if they were some important family.
